How to Choose the Right Helmet

Size Matters

Measure your head circumference just above your eyebrows. Use the manufacturer's sizing chart to find your perfect fit. A helmet should feel snug but not tight.

Safety Certifications

Look for DOT, ECE, or SNELL certifications. These ensure your helmet meets rigorous safety standards for impact protection.

Riding Style

Match your helmet to your riding:

  • Full-face: Maximum protection for aggressive trail riding
  • Open-face: Better visibility for casual cruising
  • Modular: Versatility for mixed terrain

Consider ventilation, weight, and visor options based on where you ride most often.

How to Wear Your Helmet Properly

Position It Right

Your helmet should sit level on your head, about one inch above your eyebrows. The front edge should not tilt back or forward.

Adjust the Straps

Form a 'V' shape with the side straps just below your ears. The chin strap should be snug enough that only one or two fingers fit between the strap and your chin.

Check the Fit

  • Shake your head side to side—helmet shouldn't shift
  • Look up and down—helmet should move with your head
  • Open your mouth wide—you should feel the helmet pull down slightly

Never ride with an unbuckled or loose helmet. A properly fitted helmet can reduce head injury risk by up to 85%.
